In Draper, Utah a mysterious avian incident caused more than 200 starlings to simply fall from the sky. Draper resident, Lacey Brown was an eyewitness “As I was driving, these birds were just falling out of the sky,” she told Fox News. “They were all on the ground right around here and on the roadway. They were just falling out of the sky like leaves.”
Brown went on to describe how she pulled over to help and saw a man shoveling the dead birds out of the road. Draper Animal Services was also on scene to collect any that were still alive. There were only 17 starlings that made it and were transferred to a local rehabilitation center. Once they’ve recovered, they’ll be released back into the wild.
As for the less fortunate birds in the flock, they were cleared from the area “It was not a sight for the faint of heart,” Brown said.
“It’s one of the rarest things I’ve ever heard of,” said Sergeant Chad Carpenter of the Draper City Police Department.
Naturally, social media blew up with all kinds of colorful speculation. Some think the flock was poisoned by chemtrails, or struck by lightning. Others insist aliens are to blame.
“No aliens, no cloaking device,” Sergeant Carpenter said, “No poison, it was just one of those freak things where the birds were just flying along, crashed into the side of a large vehicle and boom.”
The real cause of this freak occurrence has yet to be determined. What do you guys think? Weather-related? A simple case of misdirection? Aliens?
