Known to many as Meat Loaf ‘Singer and Actor’ with over 100 million albums sales and 65 movie roles throughout his career of 6 decades. With a resume like that, it’s no surprise his interest in the paranormal took a backseat in the public eye.

The rock star Michael Lee Aday (born Marvin Lee Aday), died Thursday night, January 20th, at 74-years old. The official cause of death is still unknown. He was reportedly ill with COVID-19 just days before his death.

The statement posted on Meat Loaf’s Facebook:

Meat Loaf was fasciated with the spirit world & often shared his experiences.

His strong belief in the paranormal can be a source of comfort for those closest to him. This was someone who was so sure that there’s more than just the world we see. He knew this wasn’t really the end for him. He knew he was transforming into another state of being.

Meat Loaf actively sought out paranormal experiences on professional investigations and on his own. Once, he checked into an allegedly haunted hotel in Scotland after hearing Jon Bon Jovi (and the entire band) checked out in the middle of the night.

One of his most talked about ghost sightings occurred while making “Bat Out of Hell” – which remains among the top 10 selling albums of all time.

He also had an altercation of sorts with a spirit named Joe while appearing on “The Haunting Of” with psychic-medium Kim Russo.

He shared a few of his spooky tales with Larry King in an interview. The video below contains some of these clips:

During an interview with Shortlist in February of 2012, Meat Loaf discussed his belief in the afterlife.

“I believe there’s something when you die because there are ghosts.

I’ve seen them, I’ve been around them. Some are just energy left behind, and some are intelligent.

I’ve had conversations with them using a K2 meter, which lets them answer “yes” or “no”.

He went on to describe the encounter also shared on “The Haunting of”…

“I chased one (a spirit) across the room once.

And when we were making Bat Out Of Hell I saw a blonde girl in a white dress.

I went downstairs and told the guys, “There’s a groupie up on the balcony,” and they go,

“How would she get up there?” Everybody went up and no one was there.”

The singer was a huge fan of the show Ghost Hunters and reached out to TAPS personally, asking to join them in an investigation.

Obviously they said yes. When Meat Loaf asks you to go ghost hunting with him, you say ‘Yes!’

The episode is Season 5 episode 15 “A Bat Out of Hell” of the original Ghost Hunters that was on SyFy Channel.

Meat Loaf recently returned to do another paranormal investigation with TAPS in the current season of the “new” Ghost Hunters. This episode hasn’t aired yet, but the recently relaunched show has moved over to Discovery+ (for anyone still wondering).
